Celebrations & Reward: 

The District will encourage staff, parents & guardians to provide healthy snack items or non-food rewards for classroom celebrations & special events.  Snacks with minimal nutritional value will be discouraged.  The Board Policy includes written language that supports this requirement.

District website has information about providing students with NON-FOOD REWARDS.  

The HEALTHY NON-FOOD REWARDS flyer is emailed to all staff annually as a reminder.

Marketing: 

Market healthy foods throughout the SCHOOL DAY when practical.  We have no posters that promote unhealthy foods & beverages.  The Board Policy includes written language that supports this requirement.

We have breakfast reminder posters in the building.

There are fun informational posters & flyers in the serving areas.

There is a Fresh Fruit & Vegetable bulletin board that is updated with nutritional fact for some of the fruits & veggies being served that week.

Recess:

Ensure that all students are encouraged to participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity during recess time.  Providing adequate supervision to ensure a safe environment. The Board Policy includes written language that supports this requirement.

We have basketball courts, hopscotch, grass area to run, play ball games.  We have a Gaga Pit, jump ropes, four square, etc.

There is plenty of opportunity at recess to unwind and have fun!

Physical Activity: 

Provide opportunities for physical activity in the daily educational program as part of a regular school day.  The Board Policy includes written language that supports this requirement.

Our P.E. teachers provide a wide variety of physical activities & games to keep the students motivated during the school year.  Whether it be inside or outside, students are given the opportunity to learn new mobile & coordination skills, build stamina & strength, interact & socialize and to move their bodies.  

While inside the gym, there is always upbeat music to groove to.   

The district has a Bond measure for November 5, 2024 to build an axillary gym to support our healthy schools policy and the community.

NSLP/SBP:

All meals offered to students through the National School Lunch Program & School Breakfast Programs meet or exceed the nutrition requirements established under the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.  The Board Policy includes written language that supports this requirement.

Not only does our district participate in the NSLP/SBP, but we also participate in the Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program, so all students receive fruits & veggies, Tuesday -Friday.  The perfect, healthy snack in between breakfast and lunch.  

We run the SUPPER program as well, afterschool (CACFP).

Smart Snacks:

We do not sell foods during the SCHOOL DAY (we have no vending machines and no school stores that sell foods during the school day).  The Board Policy includes written language to support this requirement.
