BALANCED CALENDAR
The district has established a Steering Committee to explore the concept of a balanced calendar and whether it will be beneficial to our district. This is something that most school districts in our county are exploring as well. Two districts are already in a balanced calendar this school year.
What is a balanced calendar? With a balanced calendar, students attend class the same number of days and receive the same instructional hours as a traditional calendar school. A balanced calendar modifies the traditional 180 day calendar to keep the learning process continuous. Students have periodic, shorter breaks rather than one long break.

On November 17th, David Hornak, the Executive Director for the National Year Round School Association, and a parent panel will share insights for communities, families, and schools to consider. Like many districts in our area, Union Gap is evaluating this opportunity for the coming school year and we would like your feedback.

YVFWC Mobile Clinic will be providing immunizations and sports physicals at Yakima School District at 104 N. 4th Ave. August 16-18 and August 23-25.
Please call 225-3389 to set up an appointment ahead of time as time slots fill up quickly.
Immunizations $5.00 w/o insurance (medical coupon or insurance will be billed if have)
Sports Physicals $10.00 regardless of insurance.
